Sizes vary, fit is inconsistent, and millions of consumers settle for footwear that was never designed for the unique, individual shape of their feet. Maeve Wang (College ’11) saw an industry built around standardization rather than people and set out to change it.
As founder and CEO of IAMBIC, Wang uses AI-tailoring to reimagine how shoes are designed, manufactured, and sold. In this short film that aired at the 2026 Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge awards ceremony, she shares the personal experiences and observations that led her to challenge one of the footwear industry’s most entrenched assumptions: that everyone should fit into the same sizing system.
