Important Community Updates About COVID-19 as of March 20th

A Letter from our Executive Director

Dear Harvard Innovation Labs community,

As we shift into virtual spaces, we’re learning not only how to communicate and work more effectively across distances, but how to care for each other across them, too. For now, that means taking precautions to ensure everyone’s safety by moving i-lab operations fully online.

Starting on Monday, March 23, all programming, meetings, and operations will continue virtually, and ventures will not have access to Batten Hall.

  • If you have any additional personal equipment in the i-lab that’s critical to your work, please pick it up by 6:00pm Sunday evening, March 22.
  • If you need access to studio equipment (such as the 3-D printer) for business-critical work on your venture, please fill out this request form.
  • The Life Lab will remain open under the limited access restrictions established earlier this week.

As we make this transition, we’re so encouraged by how members and teams have adapted to this new way of being. We’re particularly inspired by the handful of ventures who have pivoted toward the challenge presented by COVID-19 and are working to improve testing, treatment, and safety. And we’re especially grateful to our security and cleaning staff for all of their efforts to keep the i-lab safe.

We understand that your needs and priorities may have shifted dramatically in the past few weeks. We will continue to make as many of our resources available to you as possible, and we will aim to anticipate and respond to your needs to help you flourish and thrive. If you have ideas of how we can better support you in this time, please contact us at i-lab@harvard.edu.

We hope you and your loved ones are safe, and we look forward to seeing how your ventures are making our world a better place. Our community is a resilient one. Let’s stay connected.

All my best,
Matt Segneri
