Many people ask us how Duolingo grew to more than 200 million users worldwide in just 5 years. One of the key, not-so-secret ways is through a strong, internalized culture of A/B testing since the early days of the company. By experimenting with different ways of teaching people languages and keeping them engaged enough to continue coming back, we have been able to determine what’s most effective (and what isn’t) for learning and retention.
This talk will feature examples of specific A/B tests we’ve conducted and their impacts, along with examples from other startups. Attendees will walk away with actionable takeaways and a better understanding of why A/B testing and experimentation are essential for company and product growth.
