HackLab: Build Mobile Apps with Swift and Parse

Want to learn how to build mobile apps for iPhones? Join Austin S. Lin, Head TA for Harvard Extension School's Mobile Application Development class in this hands-on, learn-by-building workshop.

Austin will walk you through building an iOS app using Swift and Parse as its backend. The project will introduce you to working with a number of components in your app, including:

• Facebook and Parse integration
• Views, images, buttons, and AutoLayout
• Embedding maps and web browsers
• Working with tableviews, tableview cells, and segues

Bring your MacBook with the latest version of Xcode installed from The App Store and come prepared to write some code!

Intended Audience: Developers (both new & experienced!) who want to build mobile apps

• Some coding experience (you've written a program before in any language) so understand the fundamentals
• Familiarity with the terminal & navigating files/directories on your Mac (if not, go learn that now!)

What do I need to attend?
• Your MacBook with the latest Xcode (7.2) installed from the App Store (sorry, no Windows!)
• Optionally, familiarize yourself with Swift by watching this Introduction to Swift video: https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2014-402/
• Download The Swift Programming Language iBook: https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/swift-programming-language/id881256329?mt=11

Will there be food?
Of course, coding is hungry work so we will have pizza!
