Richard will provide an in-depth look at the world of family offices and their growing appetite for life science startups investment.
He will discuss the different types of family office structures as well as best practices for approaching and working with family office investors. Drawing on his diverse and illustrious experience as a founder, investor, corporate executive and attorney, Richard will also provide insightful anecdotes and field questions on what it means to be a healthcare innovator.

Speaker Bio: Richard Serbin is the Chief Operating Officer of Gorlin Companies, a healthcare-focused single-family office that specializes in investment and growth of innovative life science companies. Gorlin Companies invests across the biotech and pharma sectors at all stages of development, and provides a high touch approach in helping founders & innovators create significant value for all stakeholders. Gorlin has invested in over 40 healthcare deals, resulting in eight exits over the last 10 years each exceeding $1 billion.
Richard is trained as a pharmacist and a regulatory & patent attorney. He was Chief FDA counsel for Revlon Corporation and Johnson & Johnson, among other senior management roles he has held during his career. Richard has served on the Board of Directors of over 20 public companies, including J&J, that were involved in biotech, dermatology, medical devices, female healthcare, veterinary medicine, and surgical & consumer products. He has taken two companies public and co-founded over ten other ventures.
