The Other Side Series Podcast - Former Etsy CEO Maria Thomas

This spring, we launched a new speaker series that aimed to dig into “the other side” of the journey that innovation luminaries and visionary entrepreneurs took towards career success. We delved into the successes – and the failures – that shaped their experiences, and we learned what it takes excel in today’s complex world.

This podcast, recorded at the Harvard i-lab, features former Etsy CEO Maria Thomas sitting down with Chris Colbert, Director of Programming for the Harvard Innovation Labs, as she uncovers the lessons learned through a career that has taken her from Amazon to NPR and eventually to becoming the first non-founder chief executive at Etsy. Thomas also gave some insight gleaned from her most recent experiences, including a stint as both the CCO and CMO of SmartThings, an open platform for smart homes which was acquired by Samsung, as well as her role as an angel investor in companies like HourlyNerd.
