Kiikter realized the tremendous burden of anemia after helping at-risk communities in Mexico. After experiencing firsthand how this public health crisis has severe consequences on children's health and development, the Kiikter team was inspired to create a ready-to-use, fortified food that delivers iron, vitamin B12, folic acid, and vitamin C in specific doses to prevent anemia. Kiikter can be preserved at room temperature for 14 months and consumed directly from the container without prior preparation. After four years of rigorous research and innovation in food science, Kiikter has received approval for use in government programs in Mexico and Honduras, in part because it follows the Sustainable Development Goals from the United Nations. Since 2022, it has been available to the general public in retail stores and online.
