Dr. Jake Russell is an Operating Partner at Propeller, a VC firm that supports early stage ocean climate tech companies. Previously, Jake was a Fellow at ARPA-E, where he worked to develop multimillion dollar funding programs in freight logistics, ocean carbon measurement, and superconductors, and also spent time studying maritime decarbonization and macroalgae cultivation. He is an alumnus of the Clean Energy Leadership Institute DC 2022 cohort. Jake earned his PhD in materials chemistry at Columbia University, and his bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the University of Chicago, with a minor in molecular engineering.
