When you're ready to turn your ideas into impact, we're here. Sign up for summer i-lab membership to kickstart your innovation journey.

Join Now: New student member signups are currently open until July 15, 2026.

After you sign up, we'll send you a welcome email with more information about how to get started, including watching our orientation workshop.

Returning members: You've automatically been renewed for summer membership, but feel free to update your status with us if something has changed since the spring, like you have a new name for your startup, you pivoted your mission, or you were an Explorer but now you're working on a venture.

Please note that we will not be accepting any NEW members who are May 2026 graduates.

How to Join

  • 01

    Submit a signup form

We're accepting summer member signups through July 15, 2026.

  • 02

    Find your fit

We review your application to confirm your eligibility and identify which stage you’re at (Explore, Test, Propel). If you're in Test or Propel, we'll assign you a staff advisor and cohort based on your venture's focus.

  • 03

    Attend new member orientation

At the start of each semester, we host in-person and virtual orientation sessions to introduce you to our space, staff, resources, and fellow members. These sessions are recorded so you can watch or review them anytime.

Membership in the Student i-lab is not competitive. As long as you meet the eligibility requirements below, we'll welcome you into the program.

When you submit the membership form, be honest about your progress and interests. This will help our team suggest the right resources for your unique innovation journey.

Membership Eligibility

The Student i-lab membership is open to individual Harvard students as well as ventures with an active Harvard student founder. The Harvard founder must submit the membership application on behalf of their venture/team. Ventures may include non-Harvard team members.

For Individuals

Individual members must be a matriculated, degree-seeking Harvard student or a Harvard affiliated post-doc or clinical fellow.

For Ventures

  • Ventures must be led by at least one matriculated, degree-seeking Harvard student or a Harvard affiliated post-doc or clinical fellow. While we encourage collaboration with entrepreneurs, scientists, and executives from industry, we require that a Harvard student be a founder and a committed leader on the venture team. The form must be submitted by the Harvard student.
  • Ventures may be for profit or not for profit.
  • Ventures may submit only one intake form. The Harvard-affiliated team lead must submit the form. If you are a team member, your team lead will email you a link to add yourself to the team.
  • Individual students may be included on only one intake form and may not be part of multiple ventures or sign up as an individual member.

Access for Team Members Without a Harvard Affiliation

We welcome Harvard team leads to add non-Harvard affiliates to their venture team. Non-Harvard affiliates have access to the following resources:

  • Community + Networking: Full access to our Community Slack workspace to connect with fellow entrepreneurs, share insights, and collaborate
  • Physical Space: Guest access to i-lab facilities through our check-in process
  • Programming: Attendance at i-lab events as a guest of your Harvard team lead and participation in advising sessions and expert office hours (bookings must be made through your Harvard team lead)

The following resources are available only to your Harvard-affiliated team lead or a Harvard-affiliated team member, who may share relevant information and opportunities with the team:

  • Member login portal (including perks, discounts, and member benefits).
  • Funding and venture competition applications, including the President's Innovation Challenge.
  • Direct email communications and announcements

The Fine Print

Use of the i-lab and its resources will be subject to the i-lab’s Terms of Use. We reserve the right to disqualify any membership form submission that we, in our sole and absolute discretion, determine does not fit within our membership criteria.
