After a long career in tech, I am now a technology investor, advisor and board member. A social entrepreneur and co-founder of LearnLaunch, I envision a learning and education sector empowered by humans supported by leading edge technology, providing great opportunity for all.
My board experience includes multiple public companies and two universities, Brown and Lesley. I currently serve on two venture-backed edtech startup boards as well as multiple non-profit boards (NewTech Network, Massachusetts Business Alliance for Education). I am an angel investor (Sankaty Growth Partners) and a member of @Launchpad Venture Group; my edtech investments include @Newsela, @EllevationEducation and @AceUp. I am also an investor in edtech funds supporting startups such as LearnLaunch and the Transcend Network.
I led Avaya Unified Communications Division (sold to Silverlake and TPG), Lotus Notes collaboration software and SameTime IM software (sold to IBM), CEO of Fairmarket (sold to eBay). A Broad Superintendent's Academy alum, I served as Chief Officer of College and Career Preparation in Chicago Public Schools, third largest US urban system. I have served as Chair of the Brown University Advisory Committee on Computing and Information Technology for 15 years. As a Visiting Fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Education from 2021-2023 I focussed on advanced statistics, measurement and artificial intelligence.
