Jon Staff is the founder of Getaway (now Postcard Cabins) and was it's CEO through its acquisition by Marriott in December 2024. The company provides simple, unplugged escapes to tiny cabins outside of major cities across the United States. Getaway grew from Jon’s lifelong appreciation for the great outdoors, having grown up in a cabin in rural northern Minnesota.
Under his leadership the company raised $300m+ and built 30 locations with 1,250+ cabins across the U.S. alongside a team of 500+, all fueled by a belief that the world has become overworked, overcrowded and always-on, and that all of us need the benefits of free time spent in nature.
These beliefs crystalized into a movement and brand reflected in millions of social media followers, Net Promoter Scores consistently above 80, and countless paintings, poems, tattoos, and handwritten notes from thoughtful guests.
Ultimately, a couple of peer companies and Getaway/Postcard Cabins created the category of Outdoor Hospitality, now the top trend in hospitality.
