Shalen is an investment banker-turned founder, operator, consultant and investor across healthtech, fintech, social impact and AI over the past 18 years. Shalen is currently Managing Partner of Slayer Consulting, providing growth and innovation consulting to companies of all sizes in the Medicaid and Medicare Advantage space. Previously Shalen was SVP of Market Strategy & Performance at Nations Benefits, a PE-backed market leader in Medicare Advantage supplemental benefits and managed care services. He also co-founded Huat Ventures, a pre-seed to series A proprietary investment vehicle making investments spanning health tech, fintech, AI and distributed ledger tech. Shalen was CEO and founder of Vincere Health, a Harvard-founded, Techstars-backed Medicaid-focused engagement tech platform that had raised over $6m in VC funding and was acquired by Optum in 2023. Shalen is a Sri-Lankan-Australian with an MPH from Harvard, MFin from Cambridge, and BSc from LSE, and is a Deloitte-trained chartered accountant.
