Matthew Ciardiello

Matthew Ciardiello is an entrepreneur, executive, and board member with 20+ years experience founding, running, investing in, and advising businesses. With a strong foundation in finance gained through nearly a decade in investment banking and private equity, Matthew went on to hold executive and founding roles in a variety of businesses across the energy, clean energy, infrastructure, and consumer products industries. Matthew founded and served as CEO of Poplar Resources, an oil and gas venture pursuing a complicated oil redevelopment project in Montana. He also co-founded and led TerraStor Energy Corporation, a clean-energy startup focused on utility-scale energy storage utilizing compressed-air-energy-storage (CAES) technology. Previously Matthew served as the CFO a public oil company, Magellan Petroleum Corporation (NASDAQ:MPET), and before that held investment positions with the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund Mubadala, Arcapita, and Compass Partners. Matthew has lived and worked across the US, the UK, and United Arab Emirates. Currently Matthew serves as founding partner of Anexus Consulting, a fractional CFO and advisory firm serving early-stage ventures. His clients include energy, clean energy, infrastructure, and consumer products companies, as well as businesses undergoing turnarounds and pivotal changes. In a volunteer capacity, Matthew has founded and/or served on the board of numerous non-profit organizations and has developed an expertise in social enterprises and non-profit structuring. Matthew currently lives with his wife and three sons in Fort Worth, Texas. In his spare time, he is an avid runner and swimmer and an aspiring fiction author. Matthew holds an AB in classics from Harvard and is a CFA charterholder.
