Since opening its doors in 2011, the Harvard Innovation Labs has grown from a university innovation center supporting a few dozen student founders to one that serves more than 10 percent of the entire Harvard student body. Over the last 13 years, the Harvard Innovation Labs has helped nurture well over 10,000 alumni and student innovators that have collectively started more than 5,000 ventures, with record-setting student participation in programming throughout 2024.
Today, the Harvard Innovation Labs’ staff and global network of advisors are working with thousands of entrepreneurs across the Student i-lab, for student members across all 13 Harvard schools; Launch Lab X, an accelerator for alumni-led ventures; the Pagliuca Harvard Life Lab, a launchpad for biotech and life sciences startups; and the Harvard Climate Entrepreneurs Circle, for high-potential climate entrepreneurs.
Below is a selection of more than 130 extraordinary accomplishments from current and former Harvard Innovation Labs ventures in 2024.
More than 2,000 students joined the Student i-lab as members this fall. Many are focused on building hundreds of ventures, while others are learning about the world of entrepreneurship, exploring ideas, or seeking to join an existing venture.
- Alba empowers visually impaired individuals to detect the onset of their period with a tactile menstrual wipe. The venture received an Ingenuity Award as part of the 2024 Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge.
- Blitzy, an autonomous software development company, was featured in Business Insider’s roundup of emerging AI copilots.
- Canopy Nepal creates access to education and promotes interactive learning through storytelling in Nepalese schools. The venture has secured partnerships with multiple local governments to implement its storytelling sessions in government schools and was invited to support the state government’s Minister of Social Development to strategize curriculum.
- Draco Intelligence developed augmented reality fitness sunglasses that combine turn-by-turn navigation with real-time health data.
- EndoShunt Medical is developing a medical device for controlling abdominal bleeding in trauma surgery. The company was a $75,000 award winner in the 2024 Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge.
- evoAI finished the pilot of its three-sided marketplace connecting occupational therapists, patients, and payers.
- Gnosis Health Limited, a startup advancing AI and robotics technologies, was selected as one of eight pioneering companies to showcase their innovative solutions at the UKRI AI and Robotics Accelerator Demo Day.
- Healthful, a virtual nutrition therapy company, grew its team from one to seven people, received 55+ applications from interested dietitians, and tripled the number of patients served.
- MabLab is designing five-in-one rapid test strips to detect the five deadliest lacing agents in recreational drugs. The venture was a $25,000 award recipient in the 2024 Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge and was a finalist in TechCrunch Disrupt Startup Battlefield.
- Mesa Quantum is developing chip-scale quantum sensors for next-generation GPS capabilities. Mesa Quantum was a $75,000 award winner in the 2024 Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge and raised $3.7 million in funding.
- NeuroRehab AI is using AI in the modeling and optimization of innovative, non-invasive brain stimulation therapeutics. This year, the venture put in place a customer discovery strategy and developed a business model.
- Parrots is developing an AI-driven platform that helps healthcare providers manage neurodegenerative diseases. This year, the company established partnerships with two health organizations in Maine and received a €50,000 grant from Lux Innovation.
- PerioSense makes early diagnosis of gum disease more accessible and efficient while saving time and money for patients and providers. The venture received an Ingenuity Award as part of the 2024 Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge.
- PashuWealth, a startup empowering smallholder farmers in India to harness the full potential of livestock farming, secured initial funding from an angel investor and is preparing to scale.
- Rarefield (formerly MicroAvionics) is developing a propulsion mechanism that can fly in near-space, a region that is inaccessible to aircraft and satellites. The venture received an Ingenuity Award as part of the 2024 Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge.
- reer creates 3D-printed designer furniture that can be tailored to personalized needs and traded-in for renewal. The venture received an Ingenuity Award as part of the 2024 Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge.
- Ribara, an education and employability social media platform, provided career clarity to 3,300 young people who cannot afford traditional counseling -- empowering them to make informed decisions about their careers and futures.
- Shared Harvest is a digital platform that connects nonprofit organizations working towards health equity with human resource capacity. This year, the company’s chief medical and innovation officer received the Social Enterprise Initiative Award to be a part of Harvard Business School’s course, “Strategies & Perspectives in Nonprofit Management.”
- Skills.tech has developed an AI-powered platform for delivering personalized corporate training. This year, the company launched AI tutors for a range of exams and certifications, including ISO 9001 and HIPAA compliance.
- Sprxng develops holistic period care solutions through data-driven menstrual research and innovation. The venture received an Ingenuity Award as part of the 2024 Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge.
- Trans Health HQ won first place and crowd favorite at the StartOut Demo Day 2024, which took place at the SVB Experience Center in San Francisco. The venture was also profiled by the Harvard Innovation Labs.
- VoteSee was featured in Axios for launching its platform that gives voters the data they need to make informed decisions. The company was also profiled by the Harvard Innovation Labs.
- Y-Health Corp focuses on innovations for social workers, therapists, psychiatrists, and other mental health professionals. This year, the company teamed up with an inpatient unit to streamline aftercare referrals; established a strategic partnership with the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline of Weschester County, New York; and was profiled in New York Weekly.
- Zor (formerly Solara) is providing on-demand solar irrigation to Indian farmers, increasing their access to affordable, reliable, and clean irrigation. The company was a $75,000 winner in the 2024 Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge.
Launch Lab X is a global accelerator for Harvard alumni founders. Ventures in the 2024-2025 cohort hail from six countries and represent eight Harvard schools. More than 70% of the ventures have a woman founder or co-founder, marking the third consecutive year that the majority of LLX ventures are women-led.
- Adaptive Reader is transforming literature for grades 7–12 into multiple languages and reading levels. This year, the company launched pilots with two major curriculum providers, closed its pre-seed funding, and saw adoption by teachers in more than 150 schools.
- Beaver Health engages older loved ones in stimulating, culturally responsive activities to boost cognition and quality of life. This year, the company was a $75,000 award recipient in the Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge.
- GoAnd Slay combines AI-driven study plans with live online classes, empowering non-native English speakers to communicate more effectively. This year, the venture launched its WhatsApp-based English “x-ray,” which asses English level proficiency and allows GoAnd Slay to tailor English study plans.
- Gridbrid helps companies simplify the process, maximize the profits, and reduce the risks of developing renewable energy power plants. This year, Gridbrid Co-founder Karina Yamamoto was named to Forbes’ Belgium 30 Under 30.
- Halo Braid, a venture developing the only automated hair braider for Black hair, was named one of the Most Disruptive MBA Startups by Poets & Quants and won a $1 million prize in the Peerless Pitch Competition.
- IAMBIC is disrupting the centuries-old footwear industry with their sizeless, precision-fit footwear driven by proprietary AI algorithms. in 2024, IAMBIC completed Techstars NYC, secured $1.25 million in non-dilutive federal and state funding, and expanded the team with seven key hires.
- Kura was featured in Axios for offering an efficient, seamless, and reliable payment solution for relatives and beneficiaries living abroad.
- LivXP gives sports fans a chance to create lifetime memories through interactive experiences with their favorite teams and athletes. The company secured a multi-year partnership with Tour de Suisse, one of the world’s premier cycling events. As a result, the TdS Fanzone now boasts over 600 million views from 163 countries, revolutionizing their global reach.
- Saturday Art Class is a nonprofit that provides visual arts and social emotional learning education to children across India. This year, the organization was a $25,000 award recipient in the Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge and was profiled by the Harvard Innovation Labs.
- Slam Out Loud works with underserved children in rural India to build skills like communications, critical thinking, and empathy, leveraging the transformational power of the arts. This year, the company was recognized as a Torch Bearer by CSRBOX.
- TecHustle is building Africa's largest small business network for global trade by providing financial services and market access. This year, the company was a $25,000 award recipient in the Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge.
- Unlock Education empowers public schools to leverage the data they already have to drive decisions. The venture has plans to partner with school districts across Florida in 2025.
The Pagliuca Harvard Life Lab is a wet laboratory with co-working space for early-stage, high-potential biotech and life sciences startups founded by Harvard students, alumni, faculty, and postdocs.
- Bullseye Biosciences is transforming therapeutics discovery and expediting the development of life-saving medicines. The company was a $25,000 award recipient in the 2024 Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge.
- Promakhos Therapeutics is developing oral, non-immunosuppressive, small molecules to cure chronic inflammatory disorders. This year, the company was awarded a Phase 1 SBIR grant from the patient foundation "Propel a Cure For Crohn's Disease.” Additionally, one of its founders received the MassNextGen award from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center.
- NuCyRNA Therapeutics received a $500,000 investment to develop next-generation RNA-targeting therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS.
- Strategen Bio is transforming MRI scans into a tool for objective clinical decision-making and quantitative biomarker assessment. This year, the company was a $75,000 award winner in the 2024 Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge.
Since launching in 2021, the Harvard Climate Entrepreneurs Circle has incubated 97 ventures founded by Harvard students and alumni that are actively uncovering new, unexpected ways to tackle climate change.
- Algoma automates real estate development to lower costs and save time. This year, the company won grants from New York City Economic Development Corporation and Georgia Forestry Foundation for projects in Brooklyn, New York, and Savannah, Georgia.
- Carbon Counts has built a mobile game, EverForest, and an impact platform that will plant billions of trees and motivate meaningful climate action. This year, Carbon Counts was featured as of Inc. Magazine's 5 Innovative Companies Fighting Climate Change.
- Carbon Re, a venture using AI for industrial decarbonization, announced a cooperation with FLSmidth Cement.
- CassVita has invented a simple methodology for increasing the shelf-life of cassava from three days to 18 months. This year, the Government of Cameroon has updated their subsidy policy based on the work of CassVita which will result in less food waste and more local climate resilience.
- Cloud Forest Organics is leading cloud forest recovery in the Amazon. The venture recovered a degraded cattle farm back to cloud forest – a model for reverse extinction of cloud forests as a dying ecosystem.
- Crop Diagnostix, a startup building the future of predictive agriculture, was a $25,000 award recipient in the 2024 Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge and was featured as one of BostInno’s 24 Startups to Watch in Boston in 2024.
- EarthBond provides African small businesses with reliable solar energy that lowers fuel costs. This year, the company was named one of the Most Disruptive MBA Startups by Poets & Quants.
- Eki.Labs enables the coexistence of agriculture and solar energy by scaling an innovative photovoltaic technology and sharing the revenue generated from the solar energy with farmers. This year, Eki.Labs was featured as of Inc. Magazine's 5 Innovative Companies Fighting Climate Change.
- Focal uses smart sensing and directional heat to warm people, rather than entire spaces. This year, the company continued to see organic growth through word-of-mouth referrals and was profiled by the Harvard Innovation Labs.
- GoPowerEV offers an affordable, hassle-free EV charging solution for multifamily communities. This year, the company received a California Energy Commission grant to scale EV charging in disadvantaged communities.
- Grensol is utilizing car-recycling residue as a source of useful raw materials. This year, the company announced an electric vehicle recycling partnership with XCharge, another Climate Circle venture and global leader in integrated EV charging solutions.
- Henua Technologies helps corporations implement sustainability agendas with technology designed to make their work more efficient and ignite strategic and business goals. This year, the company gained the world’s largest copper mine Billiton Escondida, as well as Chilean state company ENAMI, and Kyocera Chile as customers.
- Invert is a carbon reduction and removal company committed to empowering businesses to take bold climate action. This year, the company joined the Toronto International Film Festival as an official sustainability partner and announced that three of its projects were brought to credit issuance for over one million high-integrity carbon removal credits.
- Metafin works with Indian retail customers who want to install cleantech solutions but lack the upfront capital. This year, Metafin raised $5 million in funding and reached a milestone of enabling 2,000 solar off-grid projects in 1,250 villages across India.
- Mitti Labs, a company focused on increasing the sustainability of rice farming, launched five projects in South Asia.
- NetaCarbon provides a platform to digitize and streamline the carbon credit issuance process. This year, the company was selected as one of 10 startups in the Dream Climate Tech Launchpad 2024 by Village Capital and as one of 11 startups in the world’s first Blue Carbon Innovation Studio by Hatch Blue. Additionally, Founder Grace Lam was selected to Forbes 30 Under 30.
- Pacto Medical, inventors of a collapsible syringe with a smaller packaging footprint, was named one of 10 World Health Organization Emergency Medical Team Innovation Champions for 2024 and was profiled by the Harvard Innovation Labs.
- Polyose Bio won a MassCEC Catalyst grant for keeping food waste out of landfills by upcycling it into high-value sugar polymers.
- Offstream is building software that automates carbon compliance. This year, the venture announced its launch as part of the Y Combinator Summer Cohort.
- Resilift provides end-to-end residential flood-proofing solutions. This year, the company received SBIR phase I funding.
- The Surpluss won the Malaysia Centre4IR ESG Innovation Challenge with corporate partner Maybank – supported by Mydigital Malaysia, Bursa Stock Exchange, and World Economic Forum.
- SXD combines award-winning design with AI technology to deliver zero waste fashion. This year, the company was honored as a sustainable fashion innovator by the Industrial Sewing and Innovation Center.
- TerraStor enables electrical grids to achieve 100% renewable penetration by developing grid-scale, long-duration energy storage systems. This year, the company was featured as one of Global Corporate Venturing’s 9 startups changing what’s possible below the Earth’s surface.
- XCharge, a global leader in integrated EV charging solutions, announced its initial public offering (IPO) and was successfully listed on Nasdaq.

- Acelab, an AI-powered platform for selecting building materials, announced that more than 15,000 architecture and design practices across the US use Acelab. Additionally, Acelab CEO and Co-founder Vardhan Mehta was named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list.
- Aceup, a platform for personalized leadership coaching, team coaching, and AI-powered people analytics, raised $22.5 million in funding.
- Adaptilens is developing an intraocular lens that responds to the eye's natural signal to focus, eliminating the need for eyeglasses or contact lenses. This year, the company raised $17.5 million in funding.
- Akouos, a biotech company focused on restoring hearing in deaf children, was featured in The New York Times for helping a child hear for the first time.
- Alfred, a platform that powers residential living experiences, celebrated its 10-year anniversary.
- Almond Fintech, a B2B technology company providing financial institutions with near-instant FX settlement across borders, was named “B2B Payments Solution of the Year” by FDI, a leading voice in global economic development news.
- ArtLifting, an organization championing artists impacted by disabilities and housing insecurity, celebrated its 10th anniversary, a partnership with JanSport and a Harvard Innovation Labs mural installation.
- Asan was featured in The Better India for distributing more than 15,000 of its menstrual cups to rural women.
- ASIRI Health Arts announced the launch of its participatory and inclusive framework for learning experiences, with the mission of using the transformative power of expressive art to advocate for mental health wellness.
- Bounce Imaging was named a TIME 2024 Best Invention for its 360-degree rubble rescue camera that can be thrown into dangerous situations.

- Carbon Trap mitigates CO₂ emissions through car-top screens equipped with air-purifying filters that clean the air as vehicles move. - Nix launched Nix Pro, a hydration monitoring app for teams. Nix is used by Louisiana State University Football, Miami Heat, Frontline Health & Performance, Bay FC, EF Pro Cycling, US Speedskating, Podium Racing, Penn State University, FC Motorsports, East Carolina University, Israel Premier Tech, and more.
- Nurse-1-1, a conversational marketing company for healthcare, was acquired by Revive Health.
- Northwood Space is building a data highway between earth and space, rethinking shared infrastructure for satellites. This year, the company announced that it connected a prototype antenna to Planet Labs satellites.
- OnRamp, a customer onboarding platform for B2B SaaS companies, raised $14.2 million in funding.
- Overjet was named a TIME 2024 Best Invention for its AI-powered dental platform that detects oral diseases and evaluates x-rays.
- PairUp, an app for boosting workplace knowledge sharing, announced $2.8 million in funding.
- Physis Investment, a platform that helps institutional investors measure, build, and communicate the impact of investments, was recognized on The Independent Climate 100 List. - Proton.ai, an AI-powered platform built for distributors, was featured in The Next Web for launching an AI email assistant to compete with Google and Microsoft.
- Pymetrics, an AI recruiting tool, was featured in Marketplace for its novel online assessments.
- Qalam Health secured Quebec government funding for developing its handheld probe to guide surgeons in detecting bone cancer cells leftover from operations.
- RapidSOS securely links life-saving data from connected devices, apps, and sensors to safety agents, 911, and first responders globally. This year, RapidSOS acquired communications services company eDispatches, announced a partnership with Google and worked to make truck driving safer.
- Remento, a company helping people turn their memories into books without writing a word, was recognized by the US Chamber of Commerce.
- RightHand Robotics offers advanced robotic piece-picking technology for efficient and predictable order fulfillment. This year, the company announced a multi-year agreement with Staples.
- Rumi Spice, a startup bringing flavorful, ethically sourced, and socially responsible spices from Afghanistan to customers, was featured as one of TIME’s unique, white-elephant holiday season gifts for 2024.
- SEEAIR announced the launch of its digital platform designed to help homeowners make their home healthier and more sustainable
- SES AI, a next-generation battery maker powering electric transportation, passed a key safety test for commercialization and announced its work with Honda and Kia.
- Shamsina, a startup developing solar water heaters, was featured in Africa News for its growth in Egypt.
- ShieldAI, a defense technology company developing AI and self-driving technologies for aircraft, demonstrated multi-jet autonomy flights and acquired Sentient Vision Systems.
- Smoodi, a smoothie store in a box, was recognized as one of CStore Decisions’ 2024 Hot New Products.
- The founder of Skew the Script, an ed tech company making math more relevant, was named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in Education.
- SoWork, a virtual workplace for remote teams, was featured in Hackernoon for its innovations in the digital office space.
- Storyfave uses GenAI to design and produce lesson-oriented physical and digital books. This year, the company finished two publishing contracts, launched an e-commerce store for holiday gift purchases, achieved 10x faster book creation, and tripled its customer base.
- Stressie was awarded $3,000 in the MIT Grandhack for its app that helps people manage stress.
- Syrup Tech offers AI-powered decision support for retail merchandising teams. This year, the company announced how it works with Abercrombie & Fitch to optimize planning with AI.
- SurgiBox builds portable operating rooms. This year, the company announced an expansion into the Japanese market and a grant from Department of Defense.
- Tetrascience, an open, vendor-neutral, cloud-native platform built for scientific data, announced a partnership with NVIDIA.
- Tender Food announced its plant-based meats are now available at all 11 Clover Food Lab locations throughout the Boston metro area.
- Thrive! partners with local governments and school systems to break cycles of poverty by conducting equity audits, developing equity-centered budgets, and providing training on poverty-fighting programs. In 2024, Thrive! was the winner of Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas Award in the Social Justice category.
- Ukraine Global Scholars Foundation has helped hundreds of Ukrainian students get accepted at the world’s best boarding schools and colleges. More than 20,000 learners have watched the organization’s online course on how to apply to the best schools and universities.
- Unlimitics, a GenAI school simulation game designed to optimize the executive functioning skills of neurodivergent children ages 6-13, secured initial funding from angel investors and was awarded the Hong Kong Technology Excellence prize in AI education.
- Vaxess, a biotech company developing a novel transdermal patch technology to transform home delivery of therapies and vaccines, announced $12 million in funding and an SBIR grant for administering GLP-1 therapies.
- Virtual Staging AI, a company that helps home sellers, agents, and photographers create digitally-staged listing images without physical furniture and decor, was acquired by Zillow.
- Visible Hands, a VC firm providing company-building services and investments to underrepresented talent, was recognized in Business Insider’s feature, 58 Black investors changing the venture capital industry with firms that fund diverse startup founders.
- Weave Community announced the first 150 users for its map-based app for community organizing.
- WHOOP, a company that makes the world’s most advanced fitness and health wearables, announced Christian Ronaldo as a company investor and brand ambassador and was featured in The Boston Globe for building a company valued at more than $3 billion.
- Wise Systems, a provider of fleet management software for last-mile delivery and route optimization, announced a partnership with InTempo Partners to develop a connected transport system.
- Zeta Surgical’s mixed reality cranial surgical platform announced expanded FDA clearance.
